![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, so dramatic, the stage goes black while the speakers boom out Holst’s The Planets. It’s a great set of greatest hits and ends with the iconic Don’t fear The Reaper which sees the crowd is up on its feet – yes, it’s seated – a weird one! Without the benefit of the full Purple PA, the band seems to lack a little oomph. Tonight however, it’s all together more scaled back affair. it was loud, it was raucous, and it cemented them as one of coolest live rock bands of the day. That album, with its standout track Born to Be Wild is welded into the memory of every pre-punk school kid of the day. Opening the show is Blue Öyster Cult, who it must be said, came pretty close in the live album stakes with On Your Feet or On Your Knees in ‘75.
